1. Swann Xtreem: Best wireless Swann security camera

Best wireless security camera

Price is accurate as of post date. Read full disclaimer.

The Swann Xtreem Security Camera is one of our top-ranked Swann security cameras. It’s an excellent all-rounder camera and is well-suited for most people looking for a wireless security camera.

It records in 1080p, has 2-way audio, and uses a 110-degree wide-angle lens, so you can see everything that happens in its field of view. It has an IP65 weatherproof rating, making it a solid option for outdoors and indoors. You can also install a microSD card if you’d like more space into addition to (or in place of) its cloud storage.

Our only complaint is that its night vision only stretches 8 metres, which is much less than other picks on our list. Overall, it's a great, cost-effective option for those looking for the flexibility of a wireless security camera.

2. 4K Thermal Sensing Spotlight Bullet: Best wired Swann security camera

Best wired security camera

Price is accurate as of post date. Read full disclaimer.

The Swann 4K Thermal Sensing Spotlight Bullet is the best-performing wired pick on our list. It records in an impressive 4K, and leaves other picks in the dust with its facial recognition feature.

The Thermal Sensing Bullet can detect the difference between various people’s faces and can trigger alerts based on your settings. If you choose to ban a certain person from your premises, you can program this security camera to trigger an alarm once it sees them approaching.

While its 93-degree field of view is less than what we’d like based on our other wider-angle picks, it makes up for this with its night vision.

The Thermal Sensing Bullet can detect people, animals and cars at night from up to 45m, more than any of the picks on our list. It can be used as an outdoor or indoor camera, but we’d recommend using it as an outdoor camera. Its features, like bright sensor lights and facial recognition, are best used to deter unwanted visitors.

3. 6-Camera 4K NVR Security System: Best multi-camera Swann security system

Best multi-camera security system

Price is accurate as of post date. Read full disclaimer.

The Swann 6-Camera 4K NVR Security System is a solid pick – it has powerful colour night vision, face recognition, and it records in 4K. It has 2-way audio and loud siren alarms, so you can recognise any unwanted visitors, and sound the alarm if they approach.

While its many smart features are impressive, the main drawback is the price. At an eye-watering price of around $1,400, it's a lot of money for the average person to fork out for a security system. It has some excellent features (and comes with six cameras), but it is the priciest pick on our list by a long shot.

What's NVR?

The Swann 6-Camera 4K NVR Security System uses NVR, or Network Video Recording. This means it processes data at the camera rather than on the recorder. The result is a smarter, more powerful piece of hardware that allows for features like facial recognition.

Have a read of our NVR vs DVR article for an in-depth discussion on the differences between the two systems.

4. 6-Camera 4K DVR Security System: Best budget multi-camera Swann security system

Best budget multi-camera security system

The Swann 6-Camera 4K DVR Security System only just misses out on the top spot. It has many of the same features as the NVR, except it doesn't have facial recognition or the extra capability of an NVR system.

An interesting feature it does have though, is line-crossing detection. You can set up a line across your backyard, or a fence you share with your neighbour. Once this line has been set, anytime it's crossed you’ll get an alert. We think it's a pretty useful feature for stopping people from trespassing over your property.

At around $650 for 6 cameras, it's much better bang for your buck than the 4-camera NVR.

What's DVR?

This multi-camera security system uses DVR or Digital Video Recording. This means that video data is processed at the recorder, instead of processing it at the camera and then streaming it to the recorder.

Honorable mentions

CoreCam Wireless Security Camera

The CoreCam’s most notable feature is the 100-degree wide-angle lens and the night vision that stretches 15 metres from the camera itself. It has 2-way audio, so you can talk to visitors or scare off intruders, and has a weatherproof rating of IP65. It's a good option for indoors and outdoors and offers the same local and cloud storage as the Xtreem. However, it is pricier than the Xtreem, and we had some issues during testing, which is why it didn't land the top spot.

2KI Indoor Camera

As you’d expect, the 2KI Indoor Camera records in 2K. It's got a 110-degree wide-angle lens,  as well as night vision, heat and motion detection. However, you can only use it as an indoor camera. Local and cloud storage are available, but you need to buy them separately. That being said, it's not the best security camera on our list, and is not as versatile as some of our other picks. If you’re wanting a cheap security camera with no smart or fancy features, the Swann 2KI Indoor Camera is an excellent choice.

Master 4K Bullet

The Master 4K Bullet is another option, probably on par with the 2KI Indoor Camera. Its defining feature is that records in a crystal clear 4K. Its night vision also extends to a lengthy 40 metres, perfect for mounting out the front of your home and detecting any unwanted visitors that might grace its path. It's also great for indoor and outdoor use, with a weatherproof rating of IP66. This is really where the positives end, though. Unfortunately, it only has one-way audio and an 80-degree field of view – which is not as wide and not as versatile as some of the other picks on our list.

Enforcer 4 Security System

The Swann Enforcer 4 contains 4 cameras that record in high-definition 1080p. They all come with heat and motion detection, local and cloud storage, and a weatherproof rating of IP66, so you can mount them anywhere you please. Swann multi-camera security systems come at a price. There are much better value systems you can purchase, like our budget pick, the 6 Camera 4K DVR.

Final word

Deciding how best to secure your home is not a decision we take lightly. We've compared our favourite Swann  wireless, wired, and multi-camera security systems so you can assess all of your options.
