Considering a Home Security Upgrade? Take Your System to the Next Level

Written by | Updated May 14, 2014

Depending on the neighborhood you live in, your life experiences, and your own personal preferences for home safety and security, you may want to think about taking your home security to the next level. This means not only installing higher quality products with connections to better services, but this also means updating the technology to align with modern security features available today. From smartphone management to email and text alerts, options abound as to how you can upgrade your home security to both the next level and the 21st century.

Here are a few ways you might consider updating your home security system with some of the higher-priced, but more extensive, packages at your disposal.

ADT Monitoring Total Protection Plus and Pulse Package

With ADT monitoring’s top two plans, you get all of the features that come with the more basic, standard packages plus a few more bells and whistles that could be valuable to you. These include up to three entryway contacts with a digital keypad or keychain remote for activating and deactivating your system and 24-hour monitoring from one of four interconnected security response centers around the country.

As you go up in package prices, you’ll also get 2-Way voice communication, which enables communication with a professional ADT monitoring center dispatcher from just about anywhere in your home. The ADT monitoring control panel has an intercom feature for when you aren’t able to get to the control panel itself. CellGuard® cellular connection is another addition which allows your home security to communicate with an ADT monitoring center even if it’s not hooked up to a landline, so you don’t have to order a phone line just to hook up your security system.

Total Protection Plus bundles all of these features together into one convenient package that helps ensure you feel safe and secure at all times in your home. To take it one step further, the ADT Pulse® package also enables you to arm and disarm your system remotely, not just from the keypad or keychain remote, but from your computer or smartphone, plus mobile and web access, email and text message alert notifications, and the event history of your alarm system.

These higher-end packages ensure that you not only have the top security features available but also that you are connected in as many convenient ways as possible to make you feel more in control of your home security at all times. It is this control and security that makes it worth it for you to pay the extra to get the higher-end systems.

SimpliSafe Master and Ultimate Packages

SimpliSafe also has a number of additional features that make its two best packages stand out from the rest of its offerings. With a Starter Package, you only get a base station, wireless keypad, motion sensor and entry sensor, while the next package up, Economy, offers three entry sensors. The Classic Package offers an extra siren 105dB and smoke detector along with the other features. These are features that you can find in most basic packages from home security providers.

When you spring for the Master Package however, you get an additional motion sensor and six entry sensors instead of three, which means that you can have more protection in your home, and this can be particularly helpful if you have a larger home with more entryways.

Finally, the Ultimate Package takes security packages one step further by offering total home protection against not just intruders but also other potential home safety concerns. While the Ultimate Package only includes four entry sensors instead of six, it also includes a panic button, water sensor, CO detector, and freeze sensor to protect your home from all angles of home security.

Depending on your level of security preferences and the size of your home, going for these higher-end packages may be best for you, your home, and your family. If you’re looking for protection from more than just intruders or for more than just one or a few entryways, more expensive packages may offer just the additional coverage you need to help maintain utmost safety and security in your home.

Sometimes paying a little extra is the way to go when it comes to ensuring feelings of safety and comfort in your own home. Consider these higher-end packages when you think about taking your home security to the next level.
