Google Invests $80 Million in Solar Energy Projects

Written by | Updated November 14, 2013

Google is committed to renewable energy, so much so that earlier today they announced their 14th investment in the cause.

Google paired with KKR to invest in solar facilities in California and Arizona, making an approximate $80 million donation in these facilities, which are expected to “generate enough electricity to power over 17,000 U.S. homes.”

Google has committed more than $1 billion total to renewable energy projects to date. In 2011, Google and KKR invested $94 million in four solar facilities. The current project is expected to be up and running early next year.

The Google blog says “these investments are all part of our drive toward a clean energy future—where renewable energy is abundant, accessible and affordable.”
