The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos for the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl XLVIII yesterday. Bere at SafeWise, we had a bowl of our own – The 2014 Safety Bowl – and this time Denver took the prize.
While the guys in helmets battled it out on the turf at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, we put the two team’s cities head to head when it comes to overall safety for their residents. Using the most recent FBI crime statistics from 2012, we matched up Denver and Seattle to see which city comes out on top.
We know each of these cities are quite different when it comes to urbanization and city structure, but when it comes down to it, they’re pretty close in population so we felt it was a fair comparison.
During our research, we certainly took note that Denver reported slightly more violent crimes than Seattle. But with Seattle reporting 8,500 more property crimes than Denver, we felt that was enough of a gap to name Denver the victor.
Congratulations, Bronco fans!
