Viper, a car security provider, officially launched a smartphone app that monitors both car and home security. Viper Home, the company’s new app, is a self-installed home security system that the user controls from a smartphone.

Viper Home integrates with Viper’s car security app, Viper SmartStart, through another new app from the company called ViperConnect.

“Viper Home was created to give people a technologically advanced, yet self-installed and low-cost solution to home security that they can personally monitor through their smartphones with sensors and real-time video,” said James Turner, VP of Product Development.

Simply purchase the Viper Home Starter Kit, sold exclusively through Best Buy, and install in less than 15 minutes. The starter kit includes a central hub, indoor motion detector and a magnetic door/window sensor. The central hub just needs to be connected to an Internet router and the system is ready to go.

According to Viper’s site, some features of Viper Home include:

  • Real-time notifications of any security event
  • Motion sensor detects movement inside the home any time system is armed and uploads real-time reports to your phone
  • Magnetic door/window sensor protects home’s key entry points and notifies you of unauthorized entry
  • Movement inside the home can be viewed in real-time

A press release from Viper says The ViperConnect portion allows the user to experience the first all-in-one home and car security monitoring solution for their smartphone. It is currently available on iTunes and Google Play. Viper Home is available at Best Buy and online at
