SimpliSafe expands from homes to Main Street

SimpliSafe built its reputation on DIY home security, then spent the last few years layering in smarter cameras, better monitoring and app controls. Now the company is formally targeting small and mid-sized businesses with SimpliSafe Business Security — a line of monitoring plans and features meant for storefronts, professional offices, service shops and similar workplaces.

The company says the goal is straightforward: give owners a way to protect property, personnel and customers without locking them into long contracts or expensive custom installs. The launch includes new plans, new software controls for multi-user access and a proactive outdoor protection capability that combines AI detection with human intervention.

"Small and medium business owners are some of the most hardworking people, and they deserve security solutions that work just as hard to protect their businesses,” said Christian Cerda, CEO of SimpliSafe. “By extending our mission to keep businesses across the U.S. safe with our new tailored solutions, SimpliSafe is making advanced, affordable protection accessible to small and medium businesses, helping them safeguard what they’ve built.”

SimpliSafe Business Security offers 24/7 monitoring and AI outdoor deterrence, plus a $500 anti-theft reimbursement. Plans start at under $25.

What’s new for business customers

SimpliSafe’s business lineup arrives with four monitoring options: Standard Business at $24.99 per month, Core Business at $34.99 per month, Pro Business at $69.99 per month and Pro Plus Business at $99.99 per month. All plans include 24/7 professional monitoring, but higher-tier options unlock more advanced features, including the company’s agent-assisted outdoor deterrence (more on that in a minute).

Alongside the plans, SimpliSafe is introducing an Anti-Theft Guarantee. If a burglary occurs while the system is armed, eligible customers on Pro, Pro Business, Pro Plus or Pro Plus Business who also use SimpliSafe Active Guard Outdoor Protection can get up to $500 toward their insurance deductible. It’s extra help in the aftermath of a break-in, though it is not a replacement for insurance and comes with eligibility rules.

The big feature: Active Guard Outdoor Protection

Active Guard Outdoor Protection is the headline capability here, winning five awards at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025. It marries AI object detection with live agents who can verify activity and intervene. If the system flags a likely intruder outside, SimpliSafe’s monitoring team can engage in real time to deter the incident before a break-in or property damage. The company says the feature operates day and night.

For busy storefronts, this kind of proactive layer is about shifting from passive recording to active response. Instead of just collecting video clips to review after the fact, the system aims to interrupt the problem in the moment, then escalate to emergency dispatch when needed.

Access control that fits staff workflows

Running a business often means juggling keys, codes and shifting schedules. SimpliSafe is adding multi-user management tools to make that less of a mess. Owners can set up to 10 unique PINs so employees can disarm the alarm at opening or closing, without having access to the whole system. There are three app permission tiers — owner, admin and staff — which let you separate who can review video, change settings, or just arm and disarm.

Those roles are basic, yet practical for small teams where responsibilities change by day or shift. If you’ve ever shared a single code with half a dozen people, you know why unique PINs and role-based access matter when someone leaves the company.

Multi-camera live view in a browser

SimpliSafe is testing a new web experience that lets business users view multiple camera feeds at once. It’s currently in beta through the online account portal. Multi-view is especially useful for shops with a front entrance, a register, a stockroom, and a loading area. Rather than toggling through feeds, you can scan everything at a glance.

Hardware, sensors, and install options

The company still leans into flexible installation. Owners can go the DIY route or schedule a professional install. The system builds on SimpliSafe’s sensor catalog, with break-in sensors for doors and windows, motion detectors and environment sensors for leaks and extreme temperatures.

On the camera side, business monitoring plans include unlimited recordings with 30-day cloud storage for up to 10 cameras. That cap is worth noting when you plan coverage. A small cafe might be fine with four or five cameras. A larger retail floor with a stockroom, back entrance, and parking view might bump up against that number and need to prioritize placements.

Monitoring, contracts and support

All business plans include 24/7 professional monitoring for alarms inside and out. SimpliSafe emphasizes what helped it win over the home market — no long-term contracts, no hidden fees, and straightforward monthly pricing. For support, the company says business customers get “elevated” access every day. If your livelihood walks through your door each morning, fast help when something breaks or beeps can be the difference between a simple fix and a day of downtime.

How pricing breaks down

  • Standard Business — $24.99/month: Entry monitoring for budget-minded shops that still want professional response.

  • Core Business — $34.99/month: Adds deeper capabilities for growing operations that need more than basics.

  • Pro Business — $69.99/month: Unlocks advanced features, including access to the Anti-Theft Guarantee when paired with Active Guard.

  • Pro Plus Business — $99.99/month: The top tier for owners who want the most comprehensive package, plus eligibility for the Anti-Theft Guarantee with Active Guard.

Equipment is priced separately. The idea is you tailor a kit to your floor plan, then pick the monitoring level that fits your risk tolerance and hours of operation.

Notable limitations and fine print

A few details to keep in mind as you compare plans and spec out a system:

  • Anti-Theft Guarantee eligibility: The $500 deductible reimbursement applies only if the system is armed during a burglary and if you are on one of the qualifying plans with Active Guard Outdoor Protection. It’s a benefit, not insurance, and it won’t cover losses beyond the deductible portion.

  • Camera storage: The 30-day cloud history applies to up to 10 cameras. If you want to blanket a larger footprint, plan your angles carefully so critical zones are covered.

  • Beta features: The multi-camera web view is in beta. That’s useful to try, yet you should expect changes as SimpliSafe refines the interface and performance.

PIN and role caps: Up to 10 PINs and three permission tiers will suit many small teams. If you run multiple shifts across several locations, you may want to map which staff get which codes by site to avoid code reuse.

Bottom line

SimpliSafe’s move into the SMB market takes the brand’s home-grown formula — fast setup, modern cameras, flexible monitoring — then layers on features that matter at work. The standout is Active Guard Outdoor Protection, which blends AI detection with human intervention to deter incidents before they escalate. Add in multi-user access, a simple web multi-view for cameras and a $500 anti-theft deductible reimbursement for qualifying customers, and you’ve got a clear, modular path for storefronts that need more than a door chime and a few cameras.

Owners who value DIY flexibility will feel at home. Those who want a heavier, fully bespoke system will probably look elsewhere. For the wide middle — the corner stores, coffee shops and service businesses that need reliable security without a long contract — this is a timely, practical upgrade.
