When it comes to ensuring the safety of your children, the Tracki GPS Tracker emerges as a standout solution. Designed to work in around 190 countries worldwide, Tracki connects parents to their children no matter where they are. Additionally, it offers various other uses — including vehicle and asset tracking — making it a comprehensive safety device.
Tracki was selected as the GPS tracker with the best value and best performance in rural areas in our third annual Kids Safety Awards.

Tracki GPS pricing and plans
The Tracki GPS tracker device costs $59.88, but you can often find it on sale for around $20. The tracking service starts $20 per month for a minimum location update interval of 60 seconds. If you want the ability to get location updates every 30 seconds, plans start at $25 per month. For updates every 10 seconds, choose the $30-per-month plan. Opting for a two-year plan saves you about 50%.
This subscription is necessary for each device to function correctly, making it essential to consider long-term costs.
One thing we don't love is how Tracki "hides" the subscription and plan information within the mobile Tracki app. You can't even see the prices and options until you download the app and register the device, which can make it difficult to push the "Buy" button when you're unsure of how much the subscription to make the device work will cost.
What's in the box?

The Tracki comes with the following:
Magnetic battery cover
Belt clip
Silicone cover
Lanyard
User manual
Screwdriver and extra screws for the battery cover
We knew we had to test the Tracki ourselves to make sure it was legit. It's definitely one of the most accurate GPS trackers we've tested, but many features are geared toward people who want to track vehicles. Will it work for your child? Yes, but its communication features are absolutely minimal. Let's take a closer look so you can judge for yourself.

Responsive geofencing alerts
One of the key features of the Tracki GPS Tracker is its geofencing capability. Parents can set virtual boundaries and get instant alerts if their child crosses these pre-defined zones. This is particularly useful for monitoring your child's location and ensuring they stay within safe areas.
What's a little unusual about Tracki's geofencing is that boundaries are rectangles, not circles. It's a small detail but may make it easier for you to set more precise boundaries around your property, since many are rectangular.
When we tested Tracki's geofencing, we noticed the notifications were slightly delayed. We walked about half a block away from the actual geofence boundary before a notification came through. Although it's not perfect, this is actually one of the more responsive geofencing devices we've ever tested, and it sends emails as well as push notifications to improve visibility.
Other trackers only send geofencing alerts according to the location update schedule. In other words, if you set up location updates for every 10 minutes, you'll only get notifications on the 10-minute mark. We appreciate that Tracki does not do this, and instead sends geofencing alerts independent of regular location updates.
On the downside, we did get quite a few false alerts when testing Tracki's geofencing. Setting a larger geofencing boundary may help.

Accurate location tracking
The live location-tracking feature of Tracki allows you to monitor your child's real-time movements. Our tests found Tracki was consistently accurate to about 40 feet. It even gave our exact location in the in-home test.
With the most affordable subscription plan, you can get automatic location updates every 60 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 4 hours. Longer update intervals help preserve battery life.
If you want updates every 15 or 30 seconds, you'll need to buy a more expensive plan. Fortunately, you can refresh the location as needed from the app dashboard. This is incredibly useful in an emergency because it lets you keep track of your child's real-time movements regardless of your subscription plan.

Long battery life
Depending on how frequently you want updates, the Tracki battery can last from three days to 30 days. If you need even longer battery life, an optional 3,500mAh battery is available, providing up to 10 months of tracking in battery-saver mode.
During our tests, the battery lasted about 6 days with 10-minute update intervals. Some long-time users have reported inconsistent battery life in customer reviews.
Limited communication features
In case of emergencies, the SOS button on the device allows your child to send an immediate alert, letting you know they need help. However, the Tracki doesn't support two-way talk. You won't be able to communicate with your child to find out what's going on or whether they accidentally pressed the button. If this is a deal breaker for you, consider an alternative like AngelSense or a kids smartwatch.
There are two additional buttons on the Tracki that can be programmed to send push notifications to the parent phone. It's supposed to allow kids to send a non-emergency communication. For example, you can agree that pressing the right button means "I'm ready to get picked up" and that pressing the left button means "I'm okay." However, we couldn't get these buttons to work, even with help from customer service.
A rare international tracker
Tracki also stands out for its global coverage. Combining 4G, 3G, and 2G technology ensures the best possible connectivity and coverage, making it an ideal choice for international use. The device's advanced technology also includes Wi-Fi and GSM as secondary backup tracking methods, giving you accurate location data even when GPS signals are weak.
Speed alerts and location history
The Tracki isn't just for younger kids. Parents may want to use it as a vehicle tracker when a new driver is behind the wheel. It will send speeding alerts, and the location history map clearly marks each area where speeding occurred.

Final word: Tracki GPS covers your family around the world
The Tracki GPS Tracker is a reliable solution for parents wanting to ensure their child's safety. Its compact size, global coverage, and essential features like geofencing, SOS alerts, and speed tracking make it a valuable tool for both kids and teens. However, the required subscription and mixed reviews on battery life are important considerations. Overall, for those prioritizing safety during travel and reliable tracking capabilities, the Tracki GPS Tracker is a commendable choice.
