That said, you need to request a quote in order to understand the price, so its contract is worth reading carefully before you sign. For those who want one of the most comprehensive, proactive security systems available, this is a pretty minimal friction point.

Verisure is perfect if you want a security system with innovations that no other security company offers, like an anti-burglar smokescreen.

We find this feature genuinely useful for workers, students, or anyone who needs to travel solo after dark.

We especially like that one Guardian licence covers multiple family members, offering extra reassurance for your partner, older parent, or teenager. Where available, Guardian expands Verisure’s protection beyond the home to support your household while they are out and about.

Verisure requires a contract — that’s worth knowing before you book your consultation. Most alarm companies have moved away from fixed terms, so if flexibility is a priority for you, that’s a genuine consideration. 

What a contract does get you here is meaningful: In some markets, Verisure offers equipment financing when you sign, which can make the upfront cost more manageable if paying for a full system in one go doesn’t suit you. It’s also worth noting that many of the negative reviews you may find online stem from customers who were surprised by the terms rather than the service itself. Read the contract carefully before you sign — and if anything isn’t clear, ask.

Verisure Smart Plug lets you control lights and plugged-in appliances with your phone. Plug it into any outlet, then use the Verisure app to schedule lights to turn on in the evening, switch off appliances you aren't using, or turn on all connected lights when an alarm is triggered. We like that you can use it while you're away to make your home look occupied, which may help deter potential burglars.

The Verisure Water Detector can alert you to a leak in your home — before the damage becomes extensive and needs costly renovations to fix. You can place the water detectors in high-risk areas, like the basement, near the water heater, or under the sink. If it detects a leak, it sends an alert to the Alarm Receiving Centre.

Verisure offers climate detectors that help you keep an eye on humidity and temperature inside your home. They can send you an app alert when indoor conditions are too high or low, so you can take immediate action before excess moisture causes mould, musty smells, or water damage. It may also help you adjust your heating to save on costs.

Once installed, you can use the My Verisure app (available through the Apple Store or Google Play) to arm and disarm your new security system. You can also use it to view security camera footage, or control Verisure’s lineup of smart devices.

Customer reviews are positive — the My Verisure app has a rating of 4.8 in both the Apple Store and on Google Play.

Verisure's smart home approach is intentional but closed. All of the system's components — cameras, sensors, keypads, remotes — are designed to work seamlessly with each other and with the My Verisure app. 

What they don't do is connect to external smart home platforms: there's no compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, Z-Wave, or Zigbee. On the other hand, Verisure’s closed system may offer stronger data privacy and protection.

The one exception is Arlo doorbells and cameras. Verisure’s partnership with Arlo ensures integration that goes beyond typical smart home convenience. In the event of a break-in, Verisure’s Alarm Receiving Centre agents can access footage from Arlo cameras to verify the incident. If necessary, they can notify the police or trigger Verisure’s ZeroVision system to deter intruders in real time.
